Acne Tips for that Spotty Situation
Acne can be such a problem for most people, especially the severe cases and for teenagers. You don’t want to be walking around your high school with the possibility of bumping into your crush and having him or her see a massive pimple–or worse, pimples–smack dab at the tip of your nose. The problem can also continue on until adulthood which is can be just as embarrassing as it is for teens–imagine the dread of appearing for a job interview or attending a high school reunion; you’d be worried sick of how your old classmates will react at your still having zits on your face and neck when you’re already in your thirties.
To help you out with your spotty situation, here are some acne tips:
Since acne is an inflammatory skin reaction resulting from blockage of follicles, it is obvious that you need to maintain proper hygiene. Taking a bath everyday is very important (because acne can also occur on the chest, back, and other oily skin areas), paying special attention to your face and neck. When purchasing facial cleansers, look for the words “oil-free” or “non-comedogenic” (meaning the cleanser does not aggravate acn
e) on the label, and also “non-irritating” and “non-overdrying.” While it may feel like you’re doing your skin a favor when you wash frequently, the recommended amount of times to wash your face is only twice a day max, in the morning and evening. Do not use a washcloth, just your bare hands, as your aim is not to scrub but just cleanse your pores. Once done, you must pat your skin dry, not rub it, as that will only irritate your skin. If you’re using any topical medications for the treatment of acne, you can apply it afterward.
Controversial and much-debated acne tips include diet and stress. Studies have found but not really 100% proven that stress and the high glycemic nature of some foods that contain simple carbohydrates encourage pimple appearance. Scientific findings do not really point specifically to chocolate, but it is recommended anyway that you take all things in moderation, chocolate included, as well as instant breakfast drinks, milk, and cheese.
Hopefully the above acne tips have been helpful to you. Eat well, don’t stress yourself too much, and observe proper hygiene concentrating on your face and neck, and you should well be on your way to clearer skin.
